Part I
Once upon a time, there was a bird, and a bear.
They lived lived up north where the cold waters met the rocky beaches. They spent their days hunting and forraging; exploring the vast wilderness that was their home. One fateful day, the bird was roosting in a tall fir overlooking the bay. The clouds had come in over the bay and it was misting slightly. It was late afternoon, and the bird had been hungry all morning, so it set off for the bay, drifting aloft on the warm air currents.
Down on the shore, the young bear made his way across the rocks, taking care to not stumble upon the loose ones. The cub had never been to the waters edge before, and so, he sat down upon the rocks and stared out at the vast world beyond the shore. He could not see the way across, and wondered what might be on the other side. The bear pondered this as small drops of rain silently fell upon the bay, and then upon the rocks around him.
Far above, the bird roamed the skies, searching for schools of fish, which were proving difficult to find. With nothing to show for her efforts, the bird headed back to her perch in the cliffs overlooking the mouth of the bay. In her search for food, the bird hadn't noticed the weather which had been making its way up the coast. The heavy rain was upon her in an instant. Large gusts blew the bird this way and that, as she struggled to make it back to shore. As she neared the treeline, a strong gust blew her against a tall pine, and everything went black.

Old Age

Old age will come for you some day
And all the wild old men will celebrate the young
And that's because they have have so far left to run
One day that could be you my brothers and my sons
I miss my grandfather, he died far too young
He was an engineer and a farm er and a warrior until the day he was done
I wish i could've known him so much better
I wish I would've eaten all the breakfasts that he made me on a platter
Oh why do the good die young
Why do they have to die at all
Oh why do the good die young
Why do they have to die at all
Everywhere I go, I keep his compass close
In my jacket pocket, so I know where to go
Every day that I wake up, I drink some orange juice
He said that "A cup a day will keep me alive and well"
Old age will come for me some day
And I hope it doesn't take me too soon
And I'll admit it, that I don't want to die
But I'm not scared of it, as long as it's not too soon
Oh why do the good die young
Why do they have to die at all
Why does there have to be a good and a bad
No I don't believe in it at all

When you're one of 24 but your odds are 20,000 against you
And the man you trust your life with, the man that you came with has betrayed you
You're the tribute from your district, a volunteer to protect the ones you love
And everyone's seeing that you're dying, and there's nothing that is coming from above
And you know you're losing hope, and you know you can't hold on any longer
But you've got your pin of courage, and 100,000 people behind you
When you're the simple sign of hope, but you're hopeless
And you're trying you're best to stay focused
Well, know you're not alone, you're not alone
And when the night falls, all you have are trees
You try you're best to get a good nights sleep
But when you're being hunted, you find it kind of hard relax
Haunted by the thought that the next day could be your last
It may feel like the whole world's against you, and so what if they are
All the best rebellions, are about something worth fighting for
While not very many people care if you live or die
Those you thought against you, are really by your side
Oh Know you're not alone, you're not alone
All you need's a spark, to change the world forever
I'll call you a hero as long as that change is for the better
The world needs people who put others infront of themselves
The world needs people who will stand and fight the wolves

Brother, you have changed
And you probably don't know what that means
Just trust me, cause I've been there before
And I hope that you don't have to be there any longer
Because the world is makeing you bitter
You can't let it, because it won't make things better
Just take the world by it's hand,
And throw it's punk-ass in a garbage can
And throw it's punk-ass in a garbage can
I miss you brother, and I don't know when I'll see you next
When I say you, I don't mean the car she wrecked
I mean you brother, from two years ago
I miss all the things that we used to think we knew
I'm begging you to come back from that grave that she dug for you
Cause when you're down deep in the ground we can't even talk to you
And if I'm wrong about what I've sang here tonight
Please tell me if I'm wrong or tell me if I'm right
I don't want you to change, I don't want you to change at all
i just want you to be alright
A broken heart I wouldn't wish it on my own worst enemy
Except to Saddam Hussein & Hitler and that bitch Mouselini
Because they're a threat to love everywhere, a threat to humanity
Broken hearts should be reserved for the wicked, for people with no empathy
And you have plenty of that, you give a shit about everyone you meet
But sometimes people just don't like the meet and greet
And some time they break your heart, and they throw you in a ditch
And you just have to move past it
I remember the talks we had, two years ago
How we wanted to live and where we wanted to go
We wanted to live differently than everybody else
Without a car, or any money, or a wife or a house
And So we set a date, 8 years from now
I plan to see you then, and then see how
You've lived you life the way you wanted to
And if you even have a wife, I'll kidnap the shit out of you.
We'll go live in the woods 'till the forest burns down
Then we'll go live on an island, and dig a hole in the ground
Put a hatch on the top, label it "QUARANTINE"
Push a button every 108 minutes, It'll just be you & me.

I don't know where you're going
I don't know where you've gone
But I know it's not worth leaving
All you're leaving behind
Go on, turn around, See what's behind you
Or go on never knowing anyone cared
But if you ever chose to come on home,
I'll be waiting with open arms
For you
The last thing I remember saying to you was
"Don't go far I need you"
And then you left, wished you best, and you went on without me
But you'll always be with me
You can try to run, feel like you don't belong
But you belong with me, cant you see
I'll never leave your side
But if you ever chose to come on home,
I'll be waiting with open arms
For you.

There's no where else to go
In this world we know
All we really know is change
There's no where else to go
In this world we know
All we really know is change
When I look outside my window all I ever see is change
Change! Change! Will it ever really change
I don't know but I think so really hope that things will really change
Everyday I drive the same car,
In my same old clothes
To the same old job,
Everybody knows
The only constant is change, It's driving me insane
Change! Change! Will it ever really change?
Nothing really changes out here
It's the same year after yer
It's becoming really clear
Change
Happy new year, good luck with your resolutions
Will you ever really change
I don't know but I hope so
but my bet's no, thing will never really change
We're the same old people
In the same old clothes
Doing the same old jobs
Nobody knows
The only constant is change, It's driving me insane
Change! Change! Will it ever really change?
Change is just around the corner
When you're older
You will realize things will never change
Change is just around the corner
When you're older
You will realize things will never change

Heart of the Island
02:08
|
|||
Well this Red room may fall
But unlike the Brelin wall
It will not crumble into dust
It will stand so tall
Just like a giant statue
watching over the island of our memories tonight
There are places on earth
That evoke a strong emotion
like love or community or electromagnetic radiation
And tonight we have to move the island
So we can keep it safe
From the evils that want to destroy this sacred place
And if we have to move the island
This place it will remain
In our hearts and our memories, Healing all our pain
'Cause the heart of the island
It's what matters most
Even when all you have is an ocean & a boat
It doesn't matter who you are
Or where you're coming from
'Cause if you still can breathe, the island isn't done
And the island isn't done with you
Of that you can be sure
The island isn't done with you
It's not done with me
It's not done with our little community
The island isn't done with you
It's not done with me
People will always persevere over hate & fear & greed
The island isn't done with you
It's not done with me
This venue may be leaving, but it's heart will remain
The island isn't done with you
It's not done with me
This venue may be leaving, but it's heart will remain

Last night i had a dream and i woke up with a fright
I was in a field of wheat for the better part of the night
My parents and my dog were there my little sister too
The sky was blue and the clouds were white, but i didn't notice you
My grandpa, he came walking up a long dirt road
I ran to him and asked him why he knew what i didn't know
He said son you have a very long way to go,
And you don't nee to know where you're going, 'cause you've already got a home
It's here in you chest son it's here in your heart
It's here in you chest son it's here in your heart
It's here in you chest son it's here in your heart
It's here in you chest son it's here in your heart
I walked into a garden, filled with many crops
Acros the rich brown soil tread a small brown fox
My dog barked up a storm at him and he scurried away
As the storm clouds clead I could've sword that I saw the break of day
And then his barks were overcome
by a sound that had heart, like the beating of a drum
I turned and I looked, out to the sea
The waves there were huge, and they were coming for me.
As the waves crashed down upon us, I was overcome by fear
My puppy he stood beside me, defiant in the face of the danger
And the the waves all came together, forming a giant wall
And as they all crashed down upon us, I swore I heard someone call.
It's here in you chest son it's here in your heart
It's here in you chest son it's here in your heart
It's here in you chest son it's here in your heart
It's here in you chest son it's here in your heart

Part II
As the wind picked up, the bear sat silently, his fur protecting him from the cold gusts. A sudden cry drew his attention away from the storm above. Down the beach, near the treeline, the bear spied a bird lying on the rocks, crying out in pain. The bear had never met a bird before, but it seemed frightened and in need, so the bear stood himself up and lumbered off down the coast towards to the bird. As the bear drew near, the bird struggled to stand and fly away, to no avail. One of her wings lay to her side, unmoving. The bear drew closer, and the bird thought it must be over. The bear picked her up with his mouth, and again, the bird's world turned black.
The bird awoke the next morning, in a cool cave with a warm bed of pine boughs. Her wing lay still by her side, but the pain she felt was less. She heard a thumping and the bear appeared at the mouth of the cave, a fish clutched in his teeth. The bear laid the fish down, offering it to the bird. the bird, happy to accept, dug into the fresh salmon. Somehow, it knew that the bear had saved her life. If she had been left out in that storm, who knows what would've happened to her. The bird remained in the bears cave for several days, resting and eating like a king. The bear didn't mind the company, and the two quickly grew fond of each other. From that day forwards, the bird and the bear were the best of friends. Soon, the bird's wing was healed and it returned to its home in the trees. The bear was sad to see the bird go, but they did not loose touch. Everyday, they relaxed together near the shore, catching fish and sitting on the rocks, looking out to the ocean at the mouth of the bay, wondering what was beyond.
With a single act of kindness, a pair of lifelong friends was made.
